This piece was commissioned by a silent film fest in Columbus, Ohio I can't for the life of me remember the name of right now. The offer came just at the right time while struggling to make ends meet and trying to calibrate being a parent of my newborn daughter.

It was also completed with the same unique studio setup as all the other music in this collection. This made for some fun use of limitations.
I completed this entire score in about 3 days.
You can simply cue up the movie and the soundtrack here for a very deep altered psychedelic experience of this amazing, classic film. This is something I'd love to do more of sometime in the future.

Running the mellotron through old home stereos from the 60s made for some unique and morose timbres.
I re-recorded the original Oberheim DS-2 Sequences with with modern Moog Sequencers patched into both ARP & Moog systems.

The original tapes for some of these recordings did not hold up well over the last few years. Some of the orchestral sections on this entire score came from tapes that I recorded nearly 30 years ago. So you never know what to expect when you spool up a tape of such vintage.

As much as it's great to experiment with different tape stock & tape machines, sometimes the old tapes will sound amazing for recording and mix-down and then be partially gone just a few years later. Granted, I used tape stock on some of this record that dates back to the late 50s and early 60s. It's part of the gamble to achieve the beauty of the art. There's just something to it. Even with a nice collection of vintage filter banks I have, nothing adds color on image like magnetic tape.
