LISA BELLA DONNA - TRAMONTANE (October 2019)

"This recording represents the celebration of one year of moving my family, home, & studio out into the Appalachian Mountains. These tone poems reflect many impressions of making our home here and exploring so many beautiful forests, rivers, and lakes nearby our little cottage in the woods. It is a great commitment to live here, no question. However it has evoked so many long awaited blessings. This experience has brought me back to my own personal garden and muse in so many ways.

Prior to this pilgrimage I lived in a downtown, very urban environment. Between hearing gunshots every night after putting my daughter to bed, to dealing with a building that was literally falling in, damaging vintage equipment. Trying to compose & mix with constant distraction. Dealing with constant episodes of sociopathic people, I decided enough was enough.

I had an intense moment one evening in my downtown loft. I reflected back to when I was 21 years old. I came so close to buying a home deep in the woods of West Virginia. I remember how it inspired me and the music that flowed then. I could see, smell, and taste it. What it would be like to live within the resonance and clarification of nature and backwoods living. It's not easy sometimes. However, it keeps you resourcing your own rememberence of our circulation of natures frequency.

For more than 25 years I lived with the regret on not following my heart on taking full advantage of that opportunity then. When the chance came to live here, It revealed itself as the evidence of pure, clear manifestation. Since coming here, I give thanks out loud every day.

This has been the most inspired & prolific year of my life.
The art and balance of learning when and how to stay out of my own way to attain the gifts and graces that allow us the clarity and strength to fully harvest our truest intentions.

I grew up very rarely ever feeling at home in my environment.
However, I always without a doubt felt at home in the public library or the backwoods of West Virginia. It was there I developed so many parameters of personal expression, musical development, spiritual resonance, and electro-acoustic technical application.

The music on this record is intended to bring a simplicity to the home or listening environment of preferred time & choice.

I hope the listener will include this in their own times of inner manifestation & reflection. In whatever personal form that may converge.

During times of being a homemaker or out in the workshop or garage. While out on long country drives to everywhere beautiful & unknown, or to transport themselves from any one destination to another.

To feel free to roam old backroads and countrysides.
To pass through many small towns long forgotten, yet still alive with honest and consonant life. Follow a river or stream down from dawn to dusk. To hike the highest ridge or mountain you can climb and be humbled and provoked by a distant thunderstorm coming through. To find the most secluded and deepest hollow where the sun barely comes through its depth. There to become engulfed it's its beauty and mysteries.
To take a friend, and speak in the essence of the moment...

It's within the evidence of miracles that I am still here and that I also awaken every morning with a sparkling inspiration and excitement to work and intend continuum, I've been blessed with that purity and excitement for as far back as I can remember.
Every day I am grateful for another chance to be in it and a part of it's perpetual change and beauty. Perpetual motion.

On a side note, I and wishful this particular recording will someday be released on LP & Cassette. If it does, I'll be setting aside a secret stash to take with me during travels to sneak into old country stores, coffee shops, and flea markets. Cut out bins and country libraries. Mountainside truck stops & filling stations. I have always felt some of the most authentic country music is created by modular synthesizers and string machines. That pretty much sums up my fullest intentions for this music."

This record is dedicated to my family: Joni Mariabronn & Tristan Whitney Weary.
